At Gilnahirk Primary School the following are the aims that we hope to achieve
1. To offer a broad and balanced curriculum in accordance with the Northern Ireland Curriculum through which each child can acquire knowledge, skills and practical abilities.
2. To give each individual child the opportunity to develop his/her own potential for achievement.
3. To create a caring, stimulating and disciplined atmosphere in which the child can develop the following qualities:

Admissions Criteria

It is the school's policy that only children of compulsory age will be admitted. If the school is over-subscribed, pupils will be admitted to the following criteria applied in the order listed.

P1 Intake (Before and after the start of the school year)

1. Preference will be given to those children with a brother or sister currently in attendance at the school.
2. Preference will be given to those children who live nearer this school ( as measured by walking distance along a recognized route) than any other primary school. Proof of permanent address will be required.
3. Preference will be given to those children whose parents are employed to work within the school.
4. Preference will be given to those children whose brother/sister or parent attended the school.
5. Other children

If the total number of applications at any point in the criteria exceeds the number of places available, preference will be given to children on the proximity of home to school. This will be measured on the basis of walking distance by a recognized route.

P2 - 7 Intake

Children will be admitted into these classes only if the total enrolement number 466 has not been reached and if the number of children in each year group has not exceeded the following figures;
